This site is a division the Logo-Mystique Organization.

The domain compellingmarketingtruths.com is owned by the author of Logo-Mystique, Martin Utian

An entrepreneur and accountant with a passion for art and IT, Martin grew up in South Africa and moved to Australia in 1988.

Soon after qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1970, Martin entered the commercial world. In 1978, he purchased a failing national distributor of metal trimmings for the clothing and leather industries, located in Johannesburg

By discarding some of the previous management’s traditional marketing policies and introducing some innovative strategies, sales took off.

By 1983 the sales turnover exceeded seven times that of 1979. After a lucrative offer for the business, he sold his interests and decided to indulge himself by becoming an artist.

From 1983 to 1987, Martin painted full time at the studios of Bill Ainsley in Johannesburg. Here he interacted with other painters, particularly disenfranchised black artists.

In 1988, disillusioned and frustrated with the political situation in South Africa, Martin and his family immigrated to Australia.

Martin has had an avid interest in computers and software for many years. In the late 1980's, prior to the days of the Internet, he started a shareware distribution business utilizing Bulletin Boards.

Bulletin board systems (BBS's) were the precursor of the World Wide Web. They were used to sell shareware, swap files and meet people. To many at that time, BBS's were considered childish and a hobby for bored men.

Martin's love affair with the Internet, graphics and business has led him to the writing of his first book, Logo-Mystique in which he explores the subconscious responses of people to signs, symbols, color and names.
